Zambia has experienced trade surpluses since January 2011: The exports were more than the imports. About 85% of this were copper and related products. This has contributed to the general upbeat mood on the streets. The passage of largely peaceful elections bodes well for the economy.

The average price of mealie meal, kapenta and tomatoes has reduced between July and August. The average prices of white roller meal, chicken and fish have, however, increased slightly.

As usual, we invite comments and experiences from all our readers. Share your thoughts with us here on KitweOnline.
