Insaka Ya Mapinda Ne Nsoselo
(Insaka for Proverbs and Sayings)
‘Insaka‘ is a Bemba word for a shelter in the village where men and young boys learn different skills from each other. This is a place where they share advice and help each other in their day-to-day lives. They learn how to hunt, make baskets, make hoes, axes and many other things. This is also a place where Proverbs and Sayings (Amapinda ne Nsoselo) are used as a way of communicating and teaching.
Since nowadays the village set up has been broken, we thought of bringing ‘Insaka’ online so that our young ones as well as all those who did not grow up in those years can benefit from the rich traditions of our ancestors.
Note that “Insaka’ is a place for men and on the other hand, there is also ‘Icibwanse‘ which is a place for women and young girls. But at the moment we shall start with the first, but as time goes on we shall also tackle the issue of ‘Icibwanse’ and see how we can help our young girls.
You are welcome to comment and ask questions on the posts that we shall be posting on this blog called: Insaka Ya Mapinda Ne Nsoselo.
God Bless You.
