The Bible has been translated into several languages including Bemba. When you open the English and Bemba versions side by side and listen to Bemba audio track of the verses, you get a free and easy way of improving your grasp of the Bemba language. This is an updated and much simpler way of doing things online than our original post from 2011. (20 – Learn To Speak Bemba Online Using The Bible). 

The idea is to open two Bibles side by side and then play the Bemba audio as you follow along, comparing the Bemba against the English version verses. 

One limitation of this method is that you can only break it down to the chapter level rather than the more desirable verse level. Each audio play therefore is only able to start from the beginning of the Chapter  and continue through to the end of that particular chapter. 

Audio is available for both Old Testament and New Testament. 

To get started, carry out the following steps:

Step 1: In your Internet browser, open Chop.Bible.com

Click on “Read The Bible Now”

Step 2: Open a second Bible alongside the first one by clicking on “Parallel”

Step 3: Change language of 2nd Bible by clicking on dropdown menu and selecting “Change Language.”

Step 4: Scroll down the list and select “Chibemba” language.

Step 5: Select the 2015 version of the Bemba Bible.

Step 6: Select the Book of the Bible and the Chapter from the drop down menus. Both the Old Testament and the New Testament are available on this menu.

Step 7: Play the Bemba audio file for the selected chapter.

You can change the speed of the audio in the Play menu.

Have fun following the Bemba reader. You can always pause the audio and rewind if you find yourself falling behind.
