Coming Home

Webster Kamaloni

Another long day is almost gone

The sun is going down again

And you are still not home

The last of all the buses have all come in

But still you are not home

So I will come back tomorrow

And wait again.

I am coming home to your loving heart

To eh one that I once threw away

The one I once broke heart

I know it is true

I made you cry

But like a fool, I ran away

I am coming home to you

I know I am nothing without you

Please let me stay.

Belief vs. Trust

Gan Chennai

Read by Lydia Mhango

Brief is Doubtful, Trust is Certain

Belief is from Mind, Trust is from Heart
Belief is Lip Service; Trust is Heart Felt
Believe many; Trust only a Few
Believing is Easy, Trusting is Hard
Belief scores 50%, Trust scores 100%
Belief is Ordinary; Trust is Extra-ordinary
Belief is Start point; Trust is End Point
Belief is Limited; Trust is infinite
Belief is Shaking Hands, Trust is Embracing
Belief keeps Control; Trust gives up control
Belief is jumping opportunities; Trust is staying
Belief is not Time Tested; Trust passes Tough Times

Belief is Important; Trust is Essential

In You I See Myself

Barney Kanjela

To know myself, I must know you

Look into my eye to see yourself

It is in me that you are

Bring in a teaspoon of ubuntu

Sprinkle some respect

A tablespoon of love

Garnish you and me with wit.

My respect with love, respect and wit

In a bowl of camaraderie

Pre-heat the embraces to a high degree

Then put the mix into the embrace

Let it be in the embrace for a while.

Take it out and make as many helpings as possible

Share with every one you meet

We will all be full of respect, love and humour

This is the world I dream.

Thereafter wash the plates.

Just One

Moddy Muponisi

One song can spark a moment

One flower can wake the dream

One tree can start a forest

One bird can herald spring.

One smile begins a friendship

One handclap lifts a soul

One star can guide a ship at sea

One word can fame the goal.

One vote can change a nation

One sunbeam lights a room

One candle wipes out darkness

One laugh will conquer gloom.

One step must start each journey

One word must start each prayer

One hope will raise our spirits

One touch can show you care.

One voice can speak with wisdom

One heart can know that’s true.

One life can make a difference

You see “It’s up to you”.  Just one.

My Very First Time

Aggrey Chibuye

It was my first time ever; and I’ll never forget

I’d do it again, without a single regret.

The sky was dark, the moon was high

We were all alone, just she and I

Her hair was soft, her eyes black

I knew just what she wanted to do.

Her skin was so soft, her legs fine

I ran my fingers down her spine

I didn’t know how, but I tried my best.

I started by placing my hands on her breast

I remember my fear, my fast beating heart

But slowly she spread her legs apart

And when I did it it felt no shame

All at once the white stuff came.

At last it’s finished.  Its all over now

My first time ever

At milking a cow……

Gotcha!

Now all you dirty minds repent!!

Roses, Kisses, Chocolates III

Bwalya Kazungo

Be bitter not for yourself

Cry not foul

Wipe your tears and move on

For you enjoyed with a smile

Yes, you did

Roses, kisses and chocolate.

It’s not my fault, your fault

It’s just that no one knows the contents of nutshell

To break a nutshell, is to see

And fruit seen is tasted

Like I saw you and fell for you

And you for me

With roses, kisses and chocolates.

Its just like root clings to soil

And drowning man hangs to grass

Its human instinct

Why cry be bitter for your heart?

Nature of your heart is to explore, experiment, reflect

And you can do with or without

Roses, kisses and chocolates.

For now

Clear out the thought that takes you back

Rinse your heart with a cool smile

Admire the joy that awaits you

With or without

Roses, kisses and chocolates

You are not alone.

The Stage

Barney Kanjela

The stage is ever beautiful and magnetizing to a lot of us

But unassuming when devoid and uninhabited

It is a refuge to all those thirsting for art

As is has the power to transform works of art.

When activated with works of art, it becomes a demon

Bringing people from all walks of life and they become one

It makes artistes to walk about its parameters

Re-enacting life.

The audience gets glued to see only what it

Gives as it numbs their marital and financial problems.

It is on stage where we make multitudes of people laugh

It is on stage where we make multitudes of people cry

It is on stage where we make multitudes of people somber and solemn

But at the end, it is ne big joy and the audience ululates and shouts

“Encore!  Encore! Encore!”

What would we be without stage?

We would empty and without form

Talent would bottle up tight and eventually

Burst out on a stage – less premise.

Then people would say we are mad, insane or

Taken drugs; can you blame them? Noooooo!

How can they ululate or give a standing ovation

On the street or any stageless premise.

Give us a stage and allow our talent to burst out

And the same condemning people will ululate

The production will re-create and give form 24/7

Give me an author, director, co-artistes, stage and

Audience and I will be myself and whole again.

Witchcraft stories in mufulira are too high, my encouragement to all youths let us just hope for the lord, is our creator and he knows all our problems and his wealth as no condition apart from been humble to him.
