Kitwe, Zambia – 8 January 2018
SOTAMBE Documentary Film and Arts Festival (SOTAMBE DFAF) is a five day event held annually in the month of September with the main objective of educating and raising awareness on social issues through film and arts. It serves as a platform for:
-
Learning institutions that want to use documentaries, arts and panel discussions as a new and advanced method of learning.
-
Local filmmakers and artists to showcase their projects, share ideas and inspire others.
-
Capacity building for the filmmaking industry through filmmaking workshops.
The 5th SOTAMBE FILM FESTIVAL will be held in the period 18 – 22 September 2018 at the Kitwe Little Theatre under the theme “These are the Days – Celebrating a Zambian Filmmaker”.
The theme is in keeping with and celebrates the developments taking place in the Zambian Film Industry. The Government approved the Film Policy in 2017 and is working on establishing film schools. The Government is in full swing implementing the digital migration process from an analogue platform in order to increase broadcasting capacity.
Both private and national media houses will demand more and quality local content which will increase opportunities for the local film production houses and the consequent increase in employment. Zambian filmmakers therefore need to be prepared to meet these opportunities.
All local and international filmmakers are invited to submit their projects in any of the following categories:
-
Documentary
-
Feature Film
-
Short Film (max 10 minutes)
-
Cartoon/Animation
-
TV Series (2 episodes)
Submissions are made online via https://bitly.com/SDFAF2018 with the deadline on 1st July 2018.
